AI & Automation
How artificial intelligence is and is not used in ASTER journalism.
Assistance, not authorship
AI tools may assist editorial work — research triage, translation drafts, transcription, structural suggestions, data processing.
ASTER retains full editorial responsibility for everything published. No output reaches readers without human editorial judgement applied to it.
What AI never does
AI is never a source. It never generates quotes, people, sources or facts. It does not establish verification, and it does not substitute for the provenance record required of every article.
Translation and localization
Machine translation may produce a first draft of a localized version; a human editor is accountable for the published text in each language, and corrections propagate across every localization.
